Description

Red lead, also known as lead oxide (Pb₃O₄), is a bright orange-red powder insoluble in water.

1. Application Scenarios:

● Gear Transmission: Inspect meshing contact spots to ensure smooth transmission.

● Thrust Bearing Surface: Evaluate bearing contact conditions to prevent localized deformation.

● Surface lapping: Apply red lead powder with a flat plate to determine flatness deviation.

2. Usage Method:

● Clean surface: Thoroughly clean the test surface to remove oil, contaminants, and substances that may affect color development.

● Apply red lead powder evenly: Use a brush or cloth to apply a thin, uniform layer of red lead powder to the test surface, such as gear tooth surfaces or thrust bearing surfaces.

● Apply load and grind: For gear meshing, gently rotate the pinion gear to turn the ring gear 1-2 revolutions. For thrust bearing surfaces, after reinstalling the bearing, manually rotate the shaft or apply axial load to ensure thorough grinding of the contact surfaces.

● Observe contact points: After disassembling the components, examine the transfer marks of the red lead powder. More and more evenly distributed contact points indicate better surface conformity.
