The steam turbine governor is the core component of the steam turbine regulation system. Its main function is to maintain the stability of the steam turbine speed, ensuring that the power generation unit can quickly and smoothly establish a new power balance when the load changes, thereby guaranteeing the stability of the grid frequency and the safe operation of the unit.
Main functions
1) Maintain rated speed:
When the external electrical load changes, it automatically regulates the steam flow entering the turbine to keep the unit speed always around the rated value (such as 3000 r/min), with a very small fluctuation range.
2) Achieve power regulation:
When operating in grid connection mode, the governor adjusts the output power of the unit by changing the valve opening, so as to match it with the load demand of the power grid.
3) Ensure safe operation:
In emergency situations such as sudden load shedding of the unit, the governor can quickly close the regulating valve to prevent the turbine from overspeed, and cooperate with the protection system to avoid equipment damage.
Working principle: The working principle of the turbine governor is based on the feedback control mechanism. Its core is to convert the speed change into mechanical or hydraulic signals, which are amplified and then drive the actuator to ultimately achieve precise control of the steam intake.
