Motor enamel is an insulating material applied to motor windings, insulating components, and metal surfaces.
1. Primary Functions:
● Isolates air, prevents oxidation, resists corrosion, and enhances mechanical strength and arc resistance.
2. Resin Classification
● Alkyd Enamel: Heat resistance class B, suitable for standard motors.
● Epoxy Enamel: Superior moisture resistance and adhesion, suitable for humid environments.
● Silicone Enamel: High-temperature resistant (Class H), used in high-temperature equipment.
3. By Filler Type
● Enamel Paint: Contains fillers, producing a hard coating with excellent arc resistance, commonly used on coils and metal surfaces.
● Varnish: Filler-free, used for inner surfaces of insulating components.
4. Insulating varnishes are classified into seven insulation grades
Y, A, E, B, F, H, and C. Heat resistance grade: Maximum allowable operating temperature (°C).
● Y-Class: 90°C. Insulation structures composed of unimpregnated cotton yarn, silk, paper, or their combinations.
● A-Class: 105°C. Insulation structures composed of impregnated or liquid-immersed dielectric materials (e.g., transformer oil-impregnated cotton yarn, silk, paper, or their combinations).
● E-Class: 120℃ Insulation structures composed of synthetic organic films, synthetic organic varnishes, or their combinations.
● B-Class: 130℃
● F-Class: 155℃
● H-Class: 180℃ Insulation structures composed of mica, glass fiber, asbestos, or their combinations bonded, impregnated, or coated with suitable resins (e.g., silicone resin).
● Class C: Above 180°C Insulation structures composed of mica, glass fiber, and materials such as unimpregnated mica, ceramics, quartz, or their combinations, bonded, impregnated, or coated with suitable resins.
